The other type of the breed that is called the large type is compared to some of the flock guards or mastiffs, and is reminiscent of a small Samoyed or a Lapphund in white, chocolate or black. Standard type of the hound is used as a pet and companion.

The hound, being a very natural breed, tends to be very healthy. Breeders, however, should have all breeding stock eye tested. As with many small breeds there can be a problem with Patella Luxation. On the whole these hounds are healthy. No reputable dog breeder will allow to surrender purebred puppies to rescues.
